Kenko Do

The Way of Wellness

The Kurumadani style of Japanese Acupuncture is a gentle, one-hour session given in a nurturing environment. It is essentially a pain-free, spa-like treatment that addresses the whole body, concentrating on areas that require more time and attention.

Bringing one’s body back into balance and harmony is the main focus of treatments. The needles help in accessing our body’s own innate ability to heal itself. Our bodies are always striving to be in harmony with itself and with nature. Once that is achieved with the help of treatments, one will have a sense of well being, connecting with oneself and with the natural order of the universe.

Kurumadani style treatments are combined with medical Shiatsu massage, which makes the acupuncture treatment more effective. The front of the body is addressed first, then the full back of the body is worked on, from head to feet, before the finishing touches to the front of the head, neck and arms.

Simple energy movement (Qigong) is taught at the first session. Nutritional counseling, self-care education and lifestyle improvements are discussed throughout follow-up sessions.

Herbal medicine is also an integral part of care and treatment. Herbal remedies are very individualized, depending on what symptoms a person presents and what his/her needs are.

Acupuncture, no matter what style used, is an excellent preventative medicine. When our bodies are in balance, we will not become ill, thus achieving Kenko Do, the Way of Wellness.
